General Data Protection Regulation
Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council, the so-called new “General Data Protection Regulation” (GDPR) of the European Union (EU), regulates the processing of personal data of natural persons by natural persons, companies or organisations in the EU.
It does not apply to the processing of personal data of deceased persons or legal entities.
Furthermore, it does not apply to data processed by a person for exclusively personal reasons or for family activities, provided that there is no relation to a professional or economic activity. However, if a person uses the personal data outside the personal sphere, for example for socio-cultural or financial activities, the GDPR must be complied with.

A company established in the EU provides travel services to customers in the Baltic countries and processes personal data of individuals in this context.
No scope of application of the Regulation
A person uses his or her own private address book to invite friends by e-mail to a party organised by that person (exception clause for family activities).
